An interview with Douglas J. McCarthy and the members of his new project is now up for your reading pleasure.
We now have a page on this site that is dedicated to interviews with artists that have played at MFD. Currently, a conversation had with Phil Mison is up for your reading enjoyment.
It’s about selecting the records. Anyone can learn to mix. It’s not that hard really. Some people are brilliant at it. I’m ok. I can do it. I’m not outstanding. But, when you forget about that and you just play the music then you see that it’s more important to play the music than to just have technical skills.

A few months ago a group of our close friends traveled from Los Angeles to New York for their tri-annual Loft Party adventure. They were invited to help set up for the event. During that time they befriended Douglas Sherman. Douglas, a long standing Loft member, is the music selector at The Loft when David Mancuso is not. We have heard amazing things about his selections and his ability to connect with the dancers. Here is a short clip of Douglas as Music Selector during the balloon drop at David Mancuso’s October 4th, 2012 Loft Party.
The story continues. Well, actually, it is still being authored.
Joshua and I learned countless lessons by studying David Mancuso’s approach to audio. His ability to keep intimate something known worldwide is another reason for which we laud him, the guru, David.
